The Project consists of improvements to the Runway Safety Area (RSA) for Runway 29 at the Lafayette Regional Airport.? The primary improvements include the addition of an Engineered Material Arresting System (EMAS) east of the Runway 29 threshold and construction of a retaining wall with associated fill.? The EMAS installation includes constructing an asphalt pad 4 inches thick, with a crushed aggregate base section 12 inches in depth over 8 inches of lime stabilized subgrade, assisting with the placement of EMAS material supplied by the Owner, removing and applying markings to the runway surface, marking the surface of the EMAS material as required by project plans, and specifications, as well as making necessary adjustments to airfield lighting, visual aids, and associated drainage improvements.
