Sealed   bids   will   be   received   by   the   City   of   Tuscaloosa Purchasing Department and must be received not later than 8:00 AM on December 16, 2021. Bids may be mailed to the City of Tuscaloosa, Purchasing Department, Attention: Amanda Gann, P.O. Box 2089, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35403. Bids may be delivered to the City of Tuscaloosa Purchasing Department, 2201 University Boulevard, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35401. 
Please write the project name on the outside of the sealed bid. This project name is 2021 Guardrail Installation, Repair, and Maintenance Project.
Bids received after the time and date specified will not be considered.  Bidders must identify the project name on the outside of the sealed envelope.
            Award of the contract will be made within forty-five (45) calendar days from the date of the receipt of bids.
The Project:  
            A.  The Project shall be known as 2021 Guardrail Installation, Repair and Maintenance Project  and the general character of said public works project shall consist of the following:
This contract is for Guardrail Installation, Repair and Maintenance for the City of Tuscaloosa. Various quantities please see unit price bid sheet.
            B.  The approximate quantities of said Project are as follows:         
Contractor will provide services on an as needed basis. Various quantities, please see unit price bidder’s response form below 
C.  Special instructions are as follows:
Bidder’s Response Form must be completed and submitted as Bid proposal/response and may be obtained at
Prices shall include the removal and disposal of damaged guardrail components and the installation of new replacement items.  The City of Tuscaloosa reserves the right to request additional prices for guardrail items that may not be listed.
D.        The City will furnish the following:      N/A     
            E.         Time of Construction:  From the date stated in the Notice to Proceed, the Project time of construction is   30      consecutive calendar days.
NOTE:         Jobs will be given sporadically over the year and once notice to proceed is given for each job the contractor has 30 calendar days to complete work.  This can be adjusted by mutual agreement of the parties Contractor is to provide a minimum five (5) day notice before any work commences in order to assign an inspector and notify the public of any traveling delays. City maintains the right to dictate the hours of work to complete jobs at any given location for the effort to reduce impacts to the traveling public.
The term of the Contract shall be for a period of one (1) year from the date of the contract hereof and shall automatically renew each year for up to two (2) years for a total maximum contract term of three (3) years from the date of execution hereof, unless sooner terminated pursuant to the contract. 
2.  Qualification of Bidders:
All bidders must be responsible, meeting the criteria and requirements set forth in the Instructions to Bidders and bid proposal. 
The City may not enter into a contract with a non-resident corporation or entity which is not qualified under State law to do business in the State of Alabama. 
All bidders shall possess all other licenses and/or permits required by applicable law, rule or regulation for the performance of the work. 
All bidders must submit with their proposal any applicable license number and a copy of the license.  
The City reserves the right to reject all bids and/or reject and rebid the Project should it determine the same is in the best interest of the City. 
Bidders attention is called to the supplemental conditions attached to the General Conditions of the Contract Documents regarding this topic.
3.  Contact Person, Plans and Specifications:  Plans and specifications and all related Contract Documents are open for public inspection at the office of _Infrastructure and Public Services, located at 2201 University Blvd., Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35401, and plans, specifications and other elements of the contract documents may be obtained from  the  office  of  Infrastructure and Public Services, designated as the office of the awarding authority for this purpose.  The contact person for the project is Tim Bunger and he can be reached at 205-248-5809 or
