ADVERTISEMENT FOR PREQUALIFICATION AND BIDS FOR:
 
Project Name: FIRE STATION NO. 6 CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

Project Scope: The work includes construction of a new Fire Station, including approximately 11,500 sf of enclosed space with related sitework, including landscaping, irrigation, paving, curb and gutter, sidewalks, drainage, etc.  All trades to be incorporated in the general contract. The project is being constructed for the City of Tuscaloosa, which is the awarding authority.
 
PREQUALIFICATION: The prequalification procedure will identify responsible and competent General Contractor bidders relative to the requirements of the Project.  Pre-qualification project summary information will be made available to prospective bidders on October 25, 2023, by contacting –PH&J Architects, Inc., Attention: Clint Wright, via email [email protected]
 
Contractor Prequalification Submittals are to be submitted to PH&J Architects, Inc., Attention: Clint Wright, via email [email protected] by prospective bidders no later than 5:00 pm CST on
November 8, 2023. E-mailed digital copies are to be followed up with three (3) hard copies sent to the office of PH&J Architects Inc., 807 S. McDonough Street, Montgomery, Alabama 36104, design consultant within 24 hours. Notification of successful respondents will be issued no later than 5:00pm CST on November 15, 2023. 
 
Additional qualifications and requirements for General Contractor Bidders and Subcontractors are indicated in the Bid and Contract Documents.  Only General Contractors who have completed the prequalification process within the stated time limits, and which are properly licensed in accordance with criteria established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors under the Provision of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama 1975, as amended, will be considered for the Work of this Project.
 
BID OPENING: Sealed Bid Proposals will be received by the City of Tuscaloosa, at the Council Chamber of City   Hall, 2201 University Boulevard, on December 7, 2023, at 2:00 PM local time for this project, at which time bids will be opened and read.
 
Pre-Bid Conference: Attendance at the MANDATORY Pre-Bid Conference is required in order for a General Contractor to submit a bid on this Project. The Pre-Bid Conference will be held at the Council Chamber of City Hall, 2201 University Boulevard, on November 28, 2023, at 10:00 AM local time.
 
Award of the contract will be made within forty-five (45) calendar days from the date of the bid opening.
 
 
Plans and Specifications:  Plans and specifications and all related Contract Documents are open for public inspection at the office of Construction Facilities and Grounds (CFG), located at 2201 University Blvd., Tuscaloosa, Alabama and  plans,  specifications  and  other  elements  of  the  contract  documents  may  be  obtained  from  the  office  of  the Engineer - Jared Elmore, Director of Construction Management, Cell Phone (205) 394-0107 or via email ([email protected])   designated as the office of the awarding authority for this purpose.

Bids must be submitted on bid proposal forms furnished by the Architect or copies thereof.  All bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for Contractors must be licensed under the Provision of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended, and must show such evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered by Architect or Owner.  The bidder shall show such evidence by clearly displaying their current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope in which the bid is delivered.
 
This project qualifies for the Sales Tax Saving Program and the owner intends to implement this program. Bidders must comply with Alabama House Bill 289 (Act 2009-657) in reference to Fire Alarm Systems.
