NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS:
 
Sealed bids will be received by the Board of Supervisors of George County, Mississippi at their
office located at 329 Ratliff Street, Lucedale, Mississippi, until 10:00 am. (local time) on
August 3, 2023, and shortly thereafter publicly opened for the construction of Bridge on
Merrill Salem Road, being known as FEDERAL AID PROJECT NO. CRSA-0020-00(035)
LPA/107257-701000 in George County, Mississippi.
 
The work shall consist essentially of the following items:
 
Construction of a 965 feet prestressed concrete beam/continuous welded steel girder
spanned bridge, crossing the Pascagoula River and paved approach roadways located along the Merrill-Salem Road in George County, Mississippi. Bridge work to consist of construction of 3 @ 40’ prestressed concrete beam spans, 1 @ 645’ continuous welded steel plate girder span (185’- 275’- 185’ spans) and 5 @ 40’ prestressed concrete beam spans, including four bents of double drilled shaft piers supporting the continuous steel spans and prestress concrete piling for the remaining spans.
 
The above general outline of features of the work does not in any way limit the responsibility of the contractor to perform all work and furnish all plant, labor, equipment, and materials required by the specifications and the drawings referred to therein.
 
Contractors have the option of submitting their bids sealed in an envelope or electronically. If a
sealed envelope bid is submitted by mail, the address of the Chancery Clerk is 355 Cox Street,
Lucedale, MS 39452. For electronic bid, documents can be downloaded from Central Bidding.
Electronic bids shall be submitted at www.centralbidding.com. For any questions relating to the

The attention of bidders is directed to the Contract Provisions governing selection and employment of labor. Minimum wage rates for Federal-Aid projects have been predetermined by the Secretary of Labor and are subject to Public Law 87-581 Work Hours Act of 1962, as set forth in the Contract Provisions.
 
The Board of Supervisors hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively insure that in any
contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement; minority business enterprise will be afforded
full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against
on the grounds of race, color, or national origin in consideration for an award.
 
The award of this contract will be contingent upon the Contractor satisfying the DBE requirements.
 
PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS are on file and may be reviewed in the Office of the Purchase
Clerk or online at www.centralbidding.com. This project allows for a Contract Time of 280
Working Days and shall be constructed in accordance with the latest edition of the
Mississippi Standard Specifications for State Aid Road and Bridge Construction.
 
PLANS AND PROPOSALS may be secured online from the reference website or obtained from
the office of Batson & Brown, Inc., 11267 Old 63 South, Lucedale, MS 39452 upon payment of
$200.00 (non-refundable) for each set.
 
Each bid shall be accompanied by a Cashier’s check, Certified Check on a solvent bank or a Bidder’s Bond issued by a Surety Company licensed to operate in the State of Mississippi, in the  amount of five percent (5%) of the total bid price, payable to the George County Board of Supervisors as bid security. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond and a Payment bond each in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract amount.
 
The proposal and contract documents in its entirety shall be submitted in a sealed envelope and deposited with the Board of Supervisors of George County, Mississippi at their
office located at 329 Ratliff Street, Lucedale, Mississippi, until 10:00 am. (local time) on
August 3, 2023.
 
Work to be performed shall be in accordance with the “Mississippi Standard Specifications for State Aid Road and Bridge Construction, 2004”, together with all amendments and/or special provisions and/or addenda to the standards duly approved and adopted, unless otherwise noted in these specifications.
 
The attention of Bidders is directed to the provisions of Subsection 102.07 pertaining to irregular proposals and rejection of bids.
