GEORGE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
 
Notice is hereby given that sealed or electronic bids will be received by the George County Board of Supervisors for the construction of the George County Coroner’s Office Replacement Project.  The bids will be received at the George County Board Room, 329 Ratliff Street, Lucedale, Mississippi, until 10:00 a.m., Prevailing Central Time, on Monday, October 17, 2022, at which time the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.
Contractors have the option of submitting their bids sealed in an envelope or electronically through www.centralbidding.com.  If a sealed envelope bid is submitted by mail, the address of the Chancery Clerk is 355 Cox Street, Lucedale, MS 39452.

All bid envelopes should contain the bidder’s name and mailing address on the outside of the envelope and also specify the name of the bid item.
Each Bidder’s certificate of responsibility number or a statement that the bid inside is less than $75,000 shall appear on the outside or exterior of the envelope or container of such bids; failing which, said bid shall not be opened or considered.

Copies may be obtained at the office of Batson & Brown, Inc., Consulting Engineers, located at 11267 Old 63 South, Lucedale, MS 39452, (601/947-8619), upon payment of $150.00 for each set, non-refundable.

A pre-bid conference will be held at the Office of the George County Board Room, at 9:00 a.m., on the 5th day of October 2022, so that interested Contractors may review project documents, bid specifications, and contract requirements.  All interested bidders are encouraged to attend.

Each bidder must deposit with his bid, security in the form of Certified Check or acceptable Bid Bond in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the bid.
As a condition precedent to the opening of a bid financed wholly with County, City, State, or other non-federal public funds and which is equal to or in excess of $50,000, the bidder must have a Certificate of Responsibility issued by the Mississippi State Board of Contractors or a similar certificate issued by another State recognizing such certificate issued by the
State of Mississippi. 

The successful bidder will be required to execute a formal contract and furnish performance and payment bonds in the amount of One Hundred Percent (100%) of the total amount of the contract.

The Board of Supervisors hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively ensure that minority business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color or national origin in consideration for an award.

All bidders should have a full understanding of the requirements for the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). A portion of this project’s construction funding could come through authorized ARPA funds. Construction managers will work with the Project’s Engineer to ensure all federal documentation and requirements are met.  
The contract, if awarded, will be made to the lowest qualified bidder and the County reserves the right to reject all bids or any bid, to waive any informalities and to postpone the award of the Contract for a period of time which, however, shall not extend beyond 60 days from the bid opening date. No bidder may withdraw his bid within sixty (60) days after the date of the opening thereof.

Contract time shall be   150   calendar days.
Mississippi State Preference Laws do not apply in selecting materials for this project.
