NOTICE FOR BIDS
SAAB PARK SPLASH PAD PROJECT
Sealed bids will be received by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of The City of Canton, Mississippi, until 2:00 p.m., local time, Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the City Clerk’s Office and shortly thereafter publicly opened and read aloud at 2:30 p.m., local time, Thursday, May 16, 2019 for the construction of the SAAB Park Splash Pad Project in Canton, Mississippi.
Electronic bids can be submitted at www.centralbidding.com. Official bid documents can be downloaded from Central Bidding. Electronic bids are due at the same time and date as sealed bids. For any questions relating to the electronic bidding process, please call 225-810-4814. The plans and specifications for the project are on file for public inspection in the offices of the City Clerk, 226 East Peace Street, Canton, Mississippi 39046, and the offices of Neel-Schaffer, Inc., 1022 Highland Colony Parkway, Suite 202, Ridgeland, Mississippi, 39157, phone (601-898-3358). Bid documents can only be obtained through Central Bidding.
Bids will be time-stamped upon receipt according to City Clerk’s time clock.
Bidders must be qualified under Mississippi State law and possess a Certificate of Responsibility issued by the Mississippi State Board of Public Contractors.
Each bidder must deposit with his proposal a Bid Bond or Certified Check in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total Base Bid, payable to The City of Canton as bid security; such security to be forfeited as liquidated damages, not penalty, by any bidder who fails to carry out the terms of the proposal, execute contract and post Performance Bond in the form and amount within the specified time. The successful bidder shall furnish a Performance Bond and a Payment Bond each in the amount of 100% of the contract amount awarded.
The project generally the of an approximately 3,000 Square Foot Splash Pad, Fencing, Concrete Sidewalk and related appurtenances. Bidders may be required to submit a current financial statement, if requested, by the City of Canton prior to award.
Attorneys-in-fact who sign Bid Bonds or Payment Bonds and Performance Bonds must file with each bond a certified and effective dated copy of their power of attorney.
Proposals shall be submitted in whole, sealed and deposited, with The City of Canton prior to the hour and date above designated. All Proposals must be submitted upon the proposal forms provided with the specifications.
Each bidder shall write his Certificate of Responsibility number on the outside of the sealed envelope containing his proposal. For bids less than $50,000, a Certificate of Responsibility number is not required. Bidder shall note on the outside of the envelope containing the bid that the “bid is less than $50,000, CR No. not required”.
The City of Canton reserves the right to reject any and all bids on any or all projects and to waive informalities. The City of Canton reserves the right to award the base bid and any combination of alternates.
